Bree and Avery are here in Washington for the races. Unfortunately, Aiden’s girlfriend Jenn couldn’t make it this week. But at least Keanna has two of her friends here, so I don’t feel as guilty when I have to abandon her to go do Team Loco things before the races. The girls decided to hang out in our hotel room today instead of hanging out at the track for the meet-and-greet. They didn’t specifically say the reason why, although I feel like it’s pretty obvious. They can have more fun hanging out together away from the fangirls.

They’ll show up at the track later to watch us race. If I’m being honest, all the stuff that happens before the race can get old really quickly. Sometimes I don’t even want to be here all day. I just want to race. And I’m positively itching to race today after being forced to stay home for the last three races in a row. I’m desperate to get back out on the track, on my bike, doing what I love. Every muscle in my body is aching to ride.

Luckily, there’s no more fans accosting me during today’s meet-and-greet. Everyone is polite and lovely and I sign a bunch of autographs and have a good time. Once that’s over and we get a few laps of practice in, I hydrate and relax with my teammates in our Team Loco trailer. Marcus comes in and gives us the fifteen minute warning, meaning we need to be dressed, on the bikes, and heading to the starting line in fifteen minutes. I turn off my phone and stash it in my locker and then go in search for Keanna. I saw Bree a few minutes ago, so I know the girls have arrived. Where’s Keanna?

I step outside of the trailer and look around. She’s not hanging out where the bikes are kept like she sometimes does. I don’t see her anywhere around. I do see Avery and Clay taking a selfie, so I walk over to them.

“Where’s Keanna?”

Avery frowns, glancing around. “She’s not with you?”

“No, I haven’t seen her.”

“That’s weird. She was here a few minutes ago.”

Okay. I know the odds of Keanna getting kidnapped by a crazy fan are like… very low. Right? But why am I suddenly panicky feeling? I turn around and find Bree, asking her the same question.

“Umm,” Bree says, glancing around as if she’ll suddenly see Keanna. “She might have gone to the bathroom or something.”

“But she’s here, right?” I say.

“Yep. We took a taxi here together.”

I take a deep breath. “Okay, I’ll text her.”

She doesn’t reply to my text, or my call. The bathrooms are clear across the massive track and I don’t have enough time to rush over there and find her. But even as Marcus starts calling for us to get suited up and head to the starting line, I know I won’t be able to function if I don’t find out that my wife is okay. It’s not like her to just leave her friends and not even come say hi to me before a race.
